Kaizen Please

Kaizen for any project, not just code: small steady steps, task breakdown, reviews, a Kaizen assessment essay, clean uninstall. Agent skills.

About This Project

Kaizen Please is a Claude Code plugin that applies the Kaizen method of small, incremental improvement to projects of any kind, including job searches, house moves, books, research questions, and small businesses. It works by splitting large tasks into single-action steps nested under the original items in the project's existing task lists. The agent completes the steps it can perform and hands the rest over ready to act on, while periodic reviews identify stalled work and divide it further. The plugin is distributed as a set of eight agent skills, covering project assessment, journal maintenance, adoption and removal of instruction blocks, task breakdown, step execution, reviews, and read-only progress summaries. Its output is a Kaizen folder containing principles, a configuration file, a monthly journal, review records, and a Typst-typeset assessment document that can be rendered to PDF.

The project is written primarily in Typst, which is used to produce the PDF assessment essays, and relies on plain Markdown for the journal and configuration. Git is optional; when present, each step's changes are committed separately. The plugin is designed to coexist with the separate code-focused Kaizen plugin in the same repository without shared files. It is released under the MIT license.

The plugin is suited to individuals who want a structured, low-overhead way to make progress on long-running personal or professional projects, and to those who already use Claude Code and keep their planning in Markdown task lists. Because it leaves original task lists unedited and removes cleanly on uninstall, it may also appeal to users who want to evaluate the workflow without committing to it.
